I don't like the Windows 11 Start Menu.I think it's clumsy, tacky, and downright stupid.So I use a Start Menu replacement on my main PC, specifically Stardock's Start 11.
But I still go back to the Start menu in my Windows 11 virtual machines.For those, I was hoping that Microsoft would try to fix some of the bugs and glitches in the built-in menu.That seems to be the purpose of the new update.
Now rolling out to Windows 11 Insiders, the latest update finally tries to bring a redesigned Start menu into the mix.In a blog post on Tuesday, Microsoft said the new menu will help you access apps faster and easier, making it easier to find what you need.It also introduced changes to File Explorer and the taskbar.Here's what to expect.
First of all, all sections appear directly on the main start menu page, rather than as a separate section that you have to choose to access.The All section is also scrollable, so you can scroll down the screen to see all your apps.
Instead of lending you to the alphabetical list of Aisprow's Alphabet By category view, your applications are placed in folders that try to sort by type.With the Grid style, your applications will be colored, but with a vertical position, so you can see them better.Choose one view or another, and the start menu will remember your choice.he will take care

The revamped menu also adapts to the screen size.On a larger screen, you can see more apps, apps and categories.You can also expand or collapse sections and highlight sections based on what you want to see.
Plus, a new Phone Link panel lets you access calls and messages on your connected iPhone or Android phone.If that doesn't interest you, you can easily hide the panel.
Microsoft has slowly rolled out some of these changes to Windows insiders in the past, but it has been hit or miss.Hopefully, the new update will be applied to everyone in the Insider program.
In addition to the Start menu, File Explorer also gets some tweaks to this latest internal build.
The File Explorer home page now shows recommended files for Microsoft accounts and local accounts.If enabled, this area will display files you use frequently, files you've recently downloaded, or files you've added to the File Explorer gallery.If you don't want to see it, you can easily turn it off.
Hovering over a file in File Explorer will display commands like "Open file location" and "Ask GoPilot."Initially, this will only be available for personal Microsoft accounts, but will expand to work and school accounts in the future.
The Windows taskbar is the next recipient of some changes.
The battery in the system tray will display these different colors to indicate charging status.A green light means that your PC is in system control and in good condition.The yellow icon tells you that the battery is 20% or lower.Again, you can enable an option to see the skin drop in the hero system.
Placing the icon of the Open App in the taskbar in the taskbar will reveal the button "Share the new version available. Selecting it will open the copy vision line, which can analyze and answer questions about the content of the document. Don't want to see it? You can just turn it off in the settings of the taskbar.

With the latest update, Microsoft has made it more difficult to select a local account during Windows 11 setup.But at least you can name your default user folder now.In the past, Windows would automatically choose a folder name based on your username, which wasn't always ideal.
The process of naming a user file is difficult, because you have to quickly open it and execute several commands manually.Hopefully, Microsoft will improve these aspects sooner rather than later.
The new update also adjusts Click-to-Click on Copilot + PCs, Windows Voice Access, and Microsoft 365 Copilot.You will also find various bug fixes for different Windows features.
The main changes are still in the Start menu.I will probably continue to use Start 11, at least Microsoft is trying to fix some of the weirdness in the current menu.
