Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett posted a cryptic meme on his Instagram story Wednesday night.

The Browns hired Todd Monken as their next head coach on Wednesday over defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who was also a finalist.

NFL coach Tom Pelissero reported that Schwartz was "visibly upset" after the decision and told other coaches "not to come back."

Garrett is one of several players on Cleveland's defense who have "a strong affinity for Schwartz," NFL insider Jordan Schultz said.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network noted that Schwartz is still under contract with the Browns and they want to keep him, but "he may have other plans."

The 59-year-old has been Cleveland's defensive coordinator since 2023.

Although Garrett had already established himself as one of the NFL's most prolific pass rushers before Schwartz's arrival, he became more productive after the coaching change.

Garrett won his first Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023 and lost 22 games in the league in 2024.

Garrett praised Schwartz's leadership at the end of the 2025 season.

"Playing for Jim was an honor and a privilege," Garrett said, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com."He is a great coach. He is a great person with character and a great leader. So I just appreciate the fact that I was trained by him and he helped to elevate my game and bring it to the heights that we see now."

The browns have finished with a 5-12 record in 2025, but their defense was a bright spot because they allowed only 283.6 total yards per game, ranked 4 among all teams.

With Schwartz's future in Cleveland now uncertain, Garrett doesn't seem pleased.
