Lenovo has unveiled a new line of ThinkPad laptops at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, as well as a new ThinkBook 2-in-1. Most notably, the new X13 detachable tablet.
Lenovo will announce five new ThinkPads and a new ThinkBook laptop for MWC 2026.There are various new chip offerings and upgrades for this range of ThinkPads, but the device I find most interesting is the X13 Detachable. We haven't seen a major update to Lenovo's ThinkPad tablet system since the X12 Detachable in years.
The redesigned Lenovo ThinkPad detachable tablet has a bigger screen and a legal keyboard
There are also a bunch of other new ThinkPads and a ThinkBook.
There is also a series of other new ThinkPads, and ThinkBook.
The new releases (and starting prices) are:
- ThinkPad T14S Gen 7 ($1,899)
- ThinkPad T14S 2-in-1 Gen 2 ($1,849)
- ThinkPad T16 Gen 5 ($1,799)
- ThinkPad T14 Gen 7 ($1.799)
- ThinkPad X13 Detachable ($1,999)
- ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 Gen 6 ($1,754)
Compared to its predecessor, the X13 offers detachable Intel Panther Lake chip options and a larger 13-inch touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, 2880 x 1920 resolution and 120Hz variable refresh rate. Its keyboard features a cover design, full-size keycaps, and deep 1.5mm key travel—it feels like a keyboard ripped straight from a proper ThinkPad.Here it is charged via pogo pins. This seems like a nice improvement over the last-gen pen's reliance on AAAA batteries and dangling from little nylon loops on the side of the keyboard.
As for other ThinkPads, the new ThinkPad T14 and T16 have slightly smaller screens than their predecessors, and are available with both Intel and AMD chips (Intel's Panther Lake and AMD's Gorgon Point). In addition, the Intel version uses LPCAMM2 RAM instead of the standard DDR5, which should be more powerful while maintaining the upgrade and easy to repair. InSpeaking of ease of repair, the T14 and T16 even have replaceable batteries.
The new ThinkPad T14S model is the lightest of the T-series ThinkPads to date, weighing 2.43 lbs / 1.1 kg (lighter than a MacBook Air).It is also the most flexibly configurable, as it will be offered with Intel Panther Lake, AMD Gorgon Point, and even Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus or X2 Elite processors. The T14S also comes in a slightly heavier 2-in-1, though it's Intel only. The Panther will come with Lake chips. And the same goes for the new ThinkBook 14 2-in-1.
All of these new laptops ship with Windows 11, but the ThinkPad T14, T14S, T16 and X13 Detachable are sold with Linux in some regions (except for the Qualcomm-based T14S, which runs Arm on Windows). All of them will be finished in Q2 2026, except for the X13 Detachable, which will ship in Q3.
