5 free-agent targets who could suit Jets offense after Frank Reich is hired

The New York Jets can land these five free agent targets that fit offensive coordinator Frank Reich's plan.

Finally, the New York Jets' search for a "head coach of the offense" is over.Former Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers coach Frank Reich has been hired by the team to run the offense in 2026.

Reich, 64, comes to New York knowing he is trying to right a crime at a desperate time for the current administration. The easiest way for him to have immediate success with the Jets is to bring in veteran free agents who fit his system, including players he has worked with in the past.

With that in mind, it's time to look at some of the free agent targets that the Jets should consider this year.

KB Jacobi Brissett

Names like Kirk Cousins and Carson Wentz will be linked to the Jets next month because of their connection to Reich.Wentz developed into an MVP candidate under Reich in Philly.Cousins never played under Reich, but has a close relationship with the coach.

However, Jacoby Brisett may be the best option to help the current roster compliment Rich's scheme.

In 2019, Reich's second season with the Colts, Brissett started 15 games after the surprise retirement of Andrew Luck.Brissett led the Colts to a 7-8 record while throwing 18 touchdowns and six interceptions.

If the Jets draft a quarterback this year, pairing him with Brissett makes a lot of sense.

WR Alec Pierce

The Colts drafted Pierce in the second round of the 2022 draft, entering Reich's final year with the team.

New York is interested in a good passport after Garrett Wilson, and if not for the last two, it's more of a witch for Wisco's Lion's Wish.

Pierce won't command top dollar for a wide receiver, but he won't come cheap either. There is an argument to be made that he is the best receiver in this year's free agent class.

The Jets are in dire need of a receiver, so Pierce is valuable, especially now that he knows the offensive coordinator.

Arabec Kenneth Genwell

Instead of paying Breece Hall over $14 million (potentially), the Jets can save cap space by taking the committee approach.

When Reich was the Eagles' offensive coordinator, Philadelphia had Darren Sproles in the backfield, a reliable third-down player who could move all over the field.Kenneth Gainwell is a perfect fit to fill the third down spot for the Jets.

Last season for the Steelers, Gainwell had 73 carries for 486 yards and three touchdowns. But we come to the next goal.

RB Riko Dauls

While Gainwell serves as the pass rusher in Reich's offense, Dowdle could be the tackle, much like 2017 Eagles running back LeGarrette Blount.

A 1-2 combo of Dowdle and Gainwell would give the Jets a reliable option at either position while conserving cap space relative to Hall.

G. Isaac Zemalo

The Jets should definitely consider retaining Aaliyah Ware-Tucker or John Simpson before hitting the open market to sign any free agents. However, if they wanted to go another route, Isaac Seumalo would be a smart target.

Seumalo was drafted by the Eagles in 2016, Reich's first year as offensive coordinator. He played in 23 games over Reich's two seasons, starting six.

At 32, Seumalo doesn't have as high a ceiling as Vera-Tucker, but he's been a consistent starter throughout his career and remains one of the best left guards in the league for Pittsburgh in 2025.

With an affordable short-term deal, it would make a lot of sense for the Jets to bring in Seumalo, either for depth or to compete for a starting spot.
