2026 Free agent projection: wide receiver

The new NFL league year begins on Wednesday, March 11, and with it, the free agency market for 2026. Until that day, we will examine the landscape from one perspective.Today we look at wide receivers.

Now, there seems to be less depth and a need for another playmaker to join Diggs, who will be able to battle against top defenses.With opponents embracing Diggs and TE Hunter Henry between the numbers, adding an outside linebacker to complement their two interior threats is a perfect fit for the Patriots.That said, it's difficult for two reasons.First, Boutte and Hollins both play the outside receiver roles well, so adding a capable shooter would be an outsider.

If he hits unrestricted free agency, which is far from over, Colts free agent Alec Pierce is the biggest prize.Pierce has been one of the league's top threats as he led the league in yards per reception the last two seasons.Pierce has good size (6-3, 211) and decent vertical speed (4.41s 40), making him a great outside hitter for a deep ball player like Maye. Brown or another veteran.After that, there are either pass catchers with more stuff (Pickens), receivers similar to current players (Martin, Dobbs), or old veterans (Evans, Samuel, Hopkins, Cook) - it gets thin quickly.New England may need to turn to the draft, where they can get a first pick.Denzel could take another swing at Boston and Casey Concepcion, or in a Day 2 cluster that includes Chris Brazel II, Omar Cooper Jr. and others.
