We've proposed 32 trades to replace Round 1 -- one in each slot -- including deals involving J.J.McCarthy and Max Crosby.
It's time to be surprised.Every year, talented and insightful analysts create mock drafts to ponder and predict what will happen when the NFL gathers in late April. Then, somewhere in the middle, I slip in something even more ridiculous and absurd. Most comedy scripts these days have a business or two taken in. My annual comic draft? There are 32 people.
Today I bring you an annual draft that consists entirely of arts. It's such a nice, thought-provoking exercise. Each trade happens in its own universe, so what happened in the first universal trade is not in the trades that happen to any of the other 31 picks.I'll also mention scenarios where a player unexpectedly or a team wants to move on a veteran, which creates a context where things make sense.
Of course, we don't know if those things will happen on the day of registration, but remember that this time last year, Shadura Sanders was expected to go somewhere in the upper part of the first round, and I dismissed the Micah Parsons trade idea, although I included another part.In that deal, the Cowboys received two first-round picks in a three-way trade, sending Parsons to the Falcons. We sent in the first player of 2026 to help bring down some much needed momentum. We think it's the right way.

I tried to use the general manager's history and each team's current situation to gauge how teams would approach trading up or down on draft day. Most franchises have their own private trade value chart, but we still see most of them using Jimmy Johnson's chart to discuss and complete trades as a lingua franca. And while it's commonly suggested that teams discount future picks throughout the round, I haven't seen that happen in a first-round draft in some time.So I only have a slight discount on future picks, which I place near the average pick in a typical round, outside of extreme scenarios. This doesn't seem to be a year of significant increases, so I don't anticipate teams paying a huge bonus as they advance to Round 1. I'll note the exceptions.
This year's draft picks are noted by round and overall number; The 45th pick in this year’s draft – a second-round pick – is listed as “2-45.”Future picks are named each round, as we don't know exactly where they will end up.And with five teams having 10 of the 32 first-round picks, well, a handful of organizations appear repeatedly during this mock draft. The Falcons, Colts, Packers, Jaguars and Broncos don't have their first rounders and none of them show up.
We will go chronologically from #1 to #32.And as always in an article where everything already requires a significant grain of salt, things are first the most absurd before calming down and becoming (a little) more reasonable later.

1. Las Vegas Raiders
Raiders get: 1-2, 2-33, 4-103
Jets win: 1-1
If you've read this piece in the past two years, you know I'm forever apologizing for the first choice. In most drafts, the first overall pick is a promising young quarterback going to a team that desperately needs one. That team is never going to trade away from that pick, which makes an already hypothetical conceit even more ridiculous.I know.
Therefore, the only way for the Raiders to trade the No. 1 pick is one of two scenarios. People get something they don't expect at the quarterback position, like the Ravens deciding to trade Lamar Jackson, the Bears trading Caleb Williams, or the Texans moving C.J.Stroud so they can acquire presumptive No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza. We've seen some crazy things happen in the offseason, but there hasn't been any meaningful smoke at either of those spots. So these are off the table.
But what might be at least a little more likely is another scenario where the Raiders aren't as excited about Mendoza as people believe.Maybe they favor Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, as Dan Orlovsky did when carefully evaluating both moves.Maybe they don't have strong opinions about either and just want to make sure they end up with one of the two potential franchise starters.
In an ideal world, if the Raiders select Simpson, they could trade up in the middle of the first round and take him, taking significant draft capital in the process. But it is a dangerous game to play.Let's say the Browns pick Mendoza at No. 1 and move down to No. 6.What if the visiting Jets take a 23-year-old returner at No. 2 and completely shut down the Raiders?
Simpson isn't the second-best prospect in this class, but if the Raiders want to ensure they get one of the top two QBs, they probably can't go lower than second. So there's a trade that does that by jumping up a level and making a trade with the Jets drafting Mendoza. This isn't the kind of franchise-altering trade you typically get when a team moves down from the top ranks, but it adds the Raiders the first pick on Day 2 and the third pick on Day 3. This gives teams both significant trade potential and the opportunity to add potentially valuable players while stew their favorites overnight between rounds. And the Raiders would still be able to draft Simpson with the second pick.
Anything that doesn't end with the Raiders drafting Mendoza in Pittsburgh will be shocking.I think it's more likely that Simpson is eliminated in the first round than he is in the top five. Not to mention the top two.But if thingsIt doesn't break this way. This is one way for the Raiders to find their quarterback.and adding more in the process.
New York Jets
Jets get: 1-4, 3-66, 2027 fourth-round pick
Titans scored: 1-2
That being said...I'd be surprised if the Jets drafted Simpson with the second pick. Geno Smith is only a short-term pick in New York, but we don't have the pedigree we associate with a quarterback who picked Simpson this high in the first round. It seems likely.
General manager Darren Maughey has plenty of cap space at the trade deadline after trading away Saus Gardner and Quinnen Williams, but teams can never afford too many premium picks. The Jets can also use their Day 1 and Day 2 picks to move up the board and get players they want.If Simpson falls to the bottom half of the first round, no one is better positioned to make the jump than Gang Green. In that scenario, coach Aaron Glenn could get his impact player.quarterback in the top 10, and the Jets could still land a potential QB of the future.
The safety information involved is in question, making this a fluid position for the Jets.Do they want Ohio State linebacker / running back Arvell Reese, who has been compared to Micah Parsons? Football fans who follow football can fall on draft day, so if teams see Reese in that position, the Jets can take him later in the top 10. (Remember, Parsons fell to No. 12 in 2021.) Similarly, Sonny Styles' college teammates are converts who will be very good in the next phase of hybrid backup.Texas Tech running back David Bailey is a traditional prospect, but the Jets are on the edge with Will McDonald IV, Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare.
Mike Tannenbaum explains the Jets' best deal, which includes a late first-round trade to land Alabama QB Tee Simpson.
New York could be more agnostic about which of the defensive players it gets, and at No. 4 it could still be safe to get a top-seven difference maker.Titans, on the other hand, can be more specific.I have to imagine that Tennessee coach Robert Saleh, who has favored lanky, athletic running backs for his defense, would want to add Bailey. The Titans already have Jermaine Johnson and Oluwafemi Oladejo, a second-round pick.2025, borderline, but Bailey might be the most athletic running back they've drafted since Jevon Kearse. There won't be much demand for a top-10 trade here, so the price will be relatively moderate.
3. Arizona Cardinals
Cardinals will receive: 1-7, 2027 second round pick
Received from commanders: 1-3
The Cardinals have been linked to a front seven on defense, which makes no sense to me.Arizona's defense struggled in 2025, but it's deep up front, with more issues in the secondary. The Cardinals could also find good tackle options, but Miami's Francis Mauigoa, Georgia's Monroe Freeling (he played mostly LT in college) and Utah's Spencer Fano.Additionally, general manager Monty Ossenfort should have an option if the team goes inside the top 10.
After a busy 2025 season, Washington general manager Adam Peters spent most of the offseason struggling to rebuild the Chiefs' defense.Daniel gave Jayden Washington some help, but I see mostly secondary and rotation players in Chig Okonkwo, Rachaad White and Jerome Ford. This year's draft target, with second-round picks and fourth-round picks, could be one of Daniel's best players on the offensive side.
That playmaker could be Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate, but I wonder if the Chiefs are going in a different direction.Peters comes from San Francisco, where the 49ers first spent big on Jerick McKinnon in free agency and then traded for Christian McCaffrey, who changed their offense after his arrival.Notre Dame running back Jeremiah Love might be that type of prospect. The Chiefs have generally avoided investing heavily at RB, but Love could be the type of player that convinces them to go in another direction.
The Titans are often associated with Love at No. 4, and the Giants were reportedly in the market for a running back this offseason before restructuring Devin Singleary's contract. The Chiefs can't count on Love landing at No. 7.A move up would cost Washington a second-round pick in what should be a much deeper draft in 2027, but it would give the team the best possible guy for Daniels right now.Arizona, in turn, would get potential ammunition for its quarterback push.in 2027 and should choose the right approach.
4. Tennessee Titans
Titans get: 1-9, 2-40
Chiefs Gains: 1-4, 5-142, 6-184
If the Titans don't draft Love, it might make sense to go to the bottom of the top 10. They might look at attacking, with the hope that someone like Mauigoa can start his career at right guard before going to the left and moving for Dan Moore Jr. Hybrid guys like Styles and Caleb Downs can still be on the boards at No. 9. heck, there's a chance Love will still be there with the ninth pick.
Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi came over from Kansas City, so I suspect Chiefs general manager Brett Veach won't have a hard time connecting with his former colleague in Tennessee. The Chiefs don't pick all that often, so this is a chance for them to find the type of player they'll struggle to find consistently in the bottom quarter of the first round.Could he be the Tate every team wants in the 5-8 range? Will it be interesting I'd lean more toward Bailey giving Steve Spagnolo the ultra-athletic rusher he's been missing in Kansas City for a while.
Trading a second-round pick would be difficult for a team in need of an influx of young talent, but the Chiefs would still have the 29th pick to play with after sending Trent McDuffie to the Rams. And the Titans, with plenty of extra picks on Day 3, would make two of them second-round picks, giving Borgonzi three top-40 picks. This one qualifies as a near-perfect replacement on the Jimmy Johnson chart.
5. New York Giants
Giants scores: 1-8, 3-73, 5-172
Saints won: 1-5, CB Deonte Banks
The Giants could be in the mix for Love or Tate, but their best addition would be Styles, who should still be available at No.8. They traded their 2026 third-round pick as part of the Jaxson Dart move last year, and while Love will be their long-term replacement for Saquon Barkley, returning that third-round pick may not cost the Giants more than one round.
Mickey Loomis and the Saints, of course, are never afraid to move up if there's a player who fits their roster. The Browns and Commanders should probably jump in line for Tate, who would join Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele as Tyler Shough's starting receiver.New Orleans would also get a 2023 first-round pick in cornerback Banks, who has prototypical NFL corner size at 6. at 2-foot-2, but hasn't lived up to expectations in three years in New York.Banks would also be a likely returner for the Saints in 2026.
6. London Browns
Browns get: 1-12, 1-20, 2027 second pick
Cowboys get: 1-6, 1-24, 2027 fifth round pick
The Browns aren't in stockpiling mode like they were in the Shashi Brown era, but they approach this draft with the goal of adding more top picks, especially if the pick expires in 2027.The Browns have their own Day 1 and Day 2 picks next year, which helps, but adding a pick in the second would provide additional flexibility in the draft round if general manager Andrew Barry has to get his man.
Steven A. Smith and Ryan Clark are the Browns' starting quarterbacks, whether Deshaun Watson or Shadura Sanders breaks down.
Jerry Jones already dealt one of the Cowboys' first round of the next year's draft as part of the Quinnen Williams trade, so although the ships in the second round will not be interesting, looking at the defense last year was not too bad.The Cowboys have already been aggressive this season with Gary Russ, but even after acquiring Williams midseason, Dallas was 23rd in sacks when he had four or fewer. The Cowboys can't stop adding players to this front seven.
The move would make sense for Dallas because it would guarantee one of the top four defensive players in Rees, Bailey, Stiles or Miami's Ruben Bean Jr. across the board. If Mendoza and Love go off the board in the first five picks, at least one of those defensive prospects would still be available at No. 6 and they would move down the other four picks.
7. Washington Commanders
Commanders: 1-14, 3-80, 5-154, 2027 third-round pick
Ravens got: 1-7
I've talked before about a potential trade for the Commanders if they're interested in Love, but terminating his contract would be a more logical decision for Peters. The Commanders were the oldest team in the league based on early weight in 2025. They made just five picks a year ago, and only two of those were in the top 125. Dan Quinn's team is also without its second- and fourth-round picks in this year's draft because of the Laramie Tunsil trade.
There may not be much demand at forward in this year's draft, but if one of the aforementioned defensemen is still available at No. 7, I wonder if the Ravens might come calling. We saw Baltimore trade nearly two first-round picks for Maxx Crosby, and although the trade was ultimately abandoned to sign Trey Hendrickson, general manager Eric DeCosta later suggested that the Ravens trade Crosby andInterested in signing Hendrickson. This prospect certainly points to the Ravens' pursuit of immediate help at the top of this draft.
All-Pro linebacker Roquan Smith could have players like Bain or Styles on the edge as a dangerous defensive playmaker. The Ravens would give up two picks in the third round, which isn't usually how they do things, but they didn't trade a first round pick for a veteran to give up two for Crosby.
8. New Orleans Saints
Saints win: 1-3
Cardinals get: 1-8, 3-73, 2027 second-round pick
The next Mickey Loomis trade in the first round of the draft will be the first, which means there's only one way to get here.I've already teased a smaller move for the Saints, so how high could they realistically go if they really wanted to make a big defensive leap?
The Jets may be open for business at No. 2, but a more realistic landing spot could be with the Cardinals at No. 3. Loomis has already signed his blitz linebacker by re-acquiring Kaden Elliss this offseason, a move that would likely take Reese off the board, but could be moving up for Bailey. Carl Granderson has no guaranteed money left on his contract after this season, and Bailey could step in alongsideChase Young and inside rusher Bryan Bresee as the cornerstones of the Saints' passing game for years to come.
Arizona will still add a premium pick in 2027 from a bad team.
9. Kansas City Chiefs
Chiefs win: 1-18, 3-97, Jonathan Greenard wins
Wickets: 1-9, edge Felix Anudike-Uzomah
We've heard that the ninth pick gives the Chiefs a rare opportunity to make a significant impact on their roster, and that's true. What if they do so in the wrong way?George Karlaftis has stepped in as a solid starter, and Chris Jones' impact hasn't diminished as his statistical production suggests, but the Chiefs will be interested in coming out with this impact running back. They may be a little short of getting the player at No.9 if the table goes as expected.
Another way to address that need is to add the star power of Grinard, who had 12 sacks and 22 tackles with the Vikings in 2024 before injuries derailed his 2025 campaign.Grinard turns 29 in May, so he should have a few years of impact before the Chiefs worry about moving on.Grinard has two years and $37.9 million remaining, and even if Brett Veach and Should handle that contract with a significant raise, Grinard is still easily justified by the Chiefs as a perennial Super Bowl performer.
This trade would enhance the difference between Greenard and Anudike-Uzomah – a former first-rounder who has never touched the Chiefs – as he is worth the 54th pick, according to Johnson's ranking, in the regular draft. The Vikings would move up from No. 18 to No. 9 and line up defensive coordinator Brian Flores to add one of the key defensive players in this year's class. The downs in Flores' defense are attractive, but the Vikings could go to LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane here.Trading Greenard would open up cap space and make room at the starting spot for Dallas Turner, who replaced Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel when they were injured last season.
The Chiefs also need a cornerback, but I'm not sure Veach values cornerback philosophically enough to use a top-10 pick at the position. The Chiefs could use their next first-rounder at corner and get that impressive lead right away with Greenard.
Jordan Reed looked at players who saw their NFL draft stock rise after their pro days, including Reuben Bain Jr.
10. Cincinnati Bengals
Bengals score: 1-13, 3-93
Rams score: 1-10, 6-189
The Bengals typically don't make big moves during draft weekends, as they usually stick with their existing picks or make small moves around the board.Bengals fans want to add a top-tier pass rusher to the roster, but Cincinnati signed Boye Mafe in free agency, and the team hopes to get more than 2,025 first-rounder Shemar Stewart, who managed just one sack.In eight games.
Rams manager Les Snead and coach Sean McVay?Well, they are the polar opposites of the Bengals in several ways and how important it is for them to move up or down. While the Rams get that first-round pick from Atlanta, they don't get their own first-round pick sent to the Chiefs for Trent McDuffie. They also have the fourth and fifth picks, which could force Los Angeles to rely more on trades than upside.
And rumors that the Rams are at least interested in acquiring A.J.Brown and considering swapping Davante Adams for this season have the chance that they will focus on adding players for the MVP of King Matthew Stafford.Tate should be off the board in the 10th pick, but if the Rams want to add USC wideout Makai Lemon, they may need to be aggressive.Dolphins are lost by a wide receiver and need a player for Malik Willis.Lemon will be the logical choice for them in No. 11.
Lemon isn't a direct replacement for Adams long-term, but Lemon's willingness to work in the middle of the field and block will appeal to McVay.It also puts Lemon on the field right away in what could be Stafford's final season.
The Bengals should look for help at safety, with off-ball linebackers and possibly inside their offensive line.If Downs and Styles are off the board, going down would allow Cincinnati to address those spots, with someone like Oregon safety Dillon Thieneman or Georgia linebacker CJ Allen at No.13.
11. Miami Dolphins
Dolphins win: 1-17, 2-50
Lions get: 1-11, 3-94
The Dolphins are in draft mode, and while that doesn't add any new picks to general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, the former Packers executive added another 50th overall pick to his arsenal by trading down and giving up one of his three picks.
Miami should be interested in Lemon if he's still here, but if he's gone, it would make sense to trade up and go for a wide receiver later in the draft.Remember, the Packers were happy to use Day 2 and Day 3 picks on wide receivers before using Matthew Golden in the first round last year. The jury is still out on Golden, and I wonder if Sullivan may consider using it more.half of the pick in width rather than making a big swing in the 1st round.
Last year's trade for Isaac TeSlaa resulted in the Lions sending two third-round picks to the Jaguars, which makes me wonder if moving up is the right idea.At the same time, Lions general manager Brad Holmes has been aggressive in recent years, and the Lions have clear needs in their starting lineup at offensive tackle and edge.
The Lions could land anyone among the Cowboys, Ravens, Buccaneers and Jets who drafted between Nos. 11 and 18, and have their eyes on Akeem Mesidor (Miami) and TJ Parker (Clemson), who could land in this range.
12. Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys get: 1-2, 2027 fifth-round pick
Jets get: 1-12, 4-112, 2027 first round, 2027 third round
Well, let's get started. What if the Cowboys absolutely, like one of the defensive players in this program and want to make sure they put that guy on their roster right away?I know it's hard to imagine Jerry Jones doing anything so quick and dramatic, but the Cowboys owner has to fix the Dallas defense, preferably sooner rather than later. He has changed and added Jalen Thompson and Kobe Durant to the secondary, but with Koenan Williams, the Cowboys lack star power and difference makers in their front seven.
If the Cowboys want to make this deal, they will move after the Raiders, who they should take first.Jones wants Reese?Bailey?Bain?Styles? It doesn't matter. He can take whoever he wants to make an immediate impact on the Cowboys at No. 2. The deal also keeps the Cowboys with the 20th pick, which would allow them to focus on the secondary, selecting a player or moving down for additional draft capital.Suddenly, Jones might feel like his team is actually... loaded with defense?
For the Jets, it would be adding draft capital and recalibrating when they need a pick the most.Darren Muggy would add another first-round pick with that move down, which is great, but the Jets will crucially trade that first-round pick in 2027. Yes, the Jets already own one of Dallas' two first-round picks next year. That would ensure the Jets would land the second either directly from Dallas or via Green Bay;this pick will be less valuable since the Jets are already guaranteed the better of those two first-round picks, but it's still a future first-rounder.
Most importantly, that pick comes from the 2027 draft, when the Jets are expected to add their quarterback of the future. Now they will have the first four drafts in their chest 2027 war, comparing all of them from the 2000 draft, when Gang Green picked Shaun Ellis, John Abraham, Chad Pennington and Anthony Becht in Round 1. These are the drafts the Jets can use directly to put their quarterbacks of the future, putting skills around the caller to make sure they can move around.
Mougey will be loaded with picks in the 2027 draft, widely believed to be more talented and more impactful than the 2026 class, especially on the offensive side of the ball.No.Falling from No. 2 to No. 12 will hurt, but the Jets' GM is still the No. 1 pick in this year's draft.Picks 12, 16, 33, 44, 103 and 112 should give coach Aaron Glenn meaningful talent in rebuilding a poor defense. The Jets won't get the best value out of Johnson's roster in this deal, especially if you discount future picks, but it will align their draft capital with a more exciting offensive class next year.
13. Los Angeles Rams (via ATL)
Skor Rams: 1-18, 3-97, QB J.J. McCarthy
Vikings take: 1-13
We know that general manager Les Snead doesn't value a low quarterback pick in the first round, so the Rams probably won't drop too far if they make a trade here. And while Snead clearly wants to use his first-round pick to tackle the 2026 roster, there's also an argument for trying to land his team's quarterback of the future.Stafford is 38 years old.He won league MVP last season, but all quarterbacks When you're approaching 40 years old, it's wise to have a backup plan.
Meeting Jimmy Garoppolo still makes sense for all parties involved, but what if the Rams want to find a younger pick?Stetson Bennett IV is listed, but the 2023 fourth-round pick has yet to play a pro game and will be a free agent after the season. There isn't much evidence that the Rams see him as part of their long-term future under center.
Is McCarthy a viable solution? The results we have seen so far say no.But great coaches have a habit of reviving quarterbacks who don't look like NFL starters.Sean McVay turned Baker Mayfield's career around after he was unceremoniously cut by the Browns and Panthers.Kyle Shanahan seems to have steered Sam Darnold in the right direction and paved the way for Mack Jones.Andy Reid helped save Nick Foles' career before his backup won a Super Bowl with the Eagles.
McCarthy, of course, was already under one of the most well-known coaches in Kevin O'Connell, who had McVay's staff in Los Angeles. In addition to McCarthy's issues as a complete passer in the 2025 season, he missed all of 2024 with a knee injury and multiple injuries in 2025. It's hard to expect him to win 17 complete games, let alone play well during that span.
At the right price, though, taking a flyer with McCarthy would make sense. The Vikings are unlikely to move forward with the ninth overall pick in 2024 as the quarterback of the future, as they signed Kyler Murray to take their starting job in 2026 before picking up McCarthy's fifth-year option after the season.Getting something for the 23-year-old quarterback would make sense if the organization decides to move on.The move would put the Vikes ahead of the Bucs and Jets if they wanted secondary help in the first round.
The trade would value McCarthy at the 112th pick in a typical Johnson draft, which is done in the middle of the fourth round. It looks fine to me.And the Rams will be on the hook for $6.6 million over the next two years, which isn't much for a developmental quarterback.Could McCarthy's solid final four games of the 2025 season (against poor opposing defenses) signal growth and some future success?Rams won't pay much to find.
Peter Schrager joins “The Pat McAfee Show” to talk about Sean McVay, admitting that the Rams have had trade talks surrounding Davante Adams.
14 Baltimore Ave
Ravens get: 1-30, edge cut Robinson
Dolphins win: 1-14
It's another way for the Ravens to add a young edge rusher capable of making an impact but moving down instead of up.Robinson appears to be on the path to superstardom as he generates the seventh-highest rushing pressure rate of any player in football, according to NFL NextGen Stats. He managed a relatively modest six sacks on 565 snaps, but that underlying performance hinted at a rising star.
With high expectations heading into 2025, Robinson instead endured a completely unknown season. He spent the first couple of weeks of the year in the third of Miami's rotation behind Jalen Phillips and Bradley Chubb.Robinson's snaps increased after Phillips was benched against the Eagles, but the 23-year-old finished the season with just three sacks and seven tackles.split in half, dropping from 7.4% to 3.7% even with double teams well below the league average for edge defenders.
It was an extremely disappointing sophomore campaign for such a promising player, and when Jon-Eric Sullivan detailed his pillars for the future of the organization, Miami's new general manager did not include Robinson. If the Dolphins don't view Robinson as a long-term difference maker, the logical choice would be to move him for significant capital before that becomes clear. This trade would value Robinson as the 42nd pick in a typical draft on Johnson's list, a pick in the upper half of the second round.
New Ravens coach Jesse Minter has a recent record of bringing back promising young rushers who disappointed previous teams, unlocking a new level of play for Odafe Owe after the same Ravens sent him to the Chargers, where Minter was the defensive coordinator.Robinson will join the rotation along with second-year guard Mike Green with the addition of free agent Trey Hendrickson. And the Ravens only owe Robinson $5 million over the next two years, which would be a very reasonable amount for an organization with a serious cap hit considering what it pays other stars on its roster.
15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Buccaneers: 1-21, 3-76, 4-135
Steelers wins: 1-15, 6-195
The trade up or down for Jason Licht and the Buccaneers would really be about the feel of the board and that they are patient at their preferred positions.Cornerback and edge feel like the biggest needs for Tampa Bay, and the Bucs have a variety of options throughout the first round. It wouldn't hurt too much to move down and add two mid-rounders if they feel they can get a 21st pick.
The Steelers would move here to land Simpson. There's a good chance they'll take him at No. 21, but with the Jets picking No. 16, general manager Omar Khan should be fairly concerned that New York would be willing to take Alabama's quarterback in the middle of the first round rather than wait until early Round 2.
The rules almost go out the window when teams move for quarterbacks, but even that wouldn't be too much of a price, with the Steelers holding one of their three third-round picks and a compensatory fourth-round pick to jump ahead of the Jets. While Pittsburgh is the favorite for sixth-round pick Will Howard, the Ohio State product did not receive a preseason or regular season pick.Simpson will step in as QB2 in 2026 behind the veteran, possibly Aaron Rodgers, before being selected as the Steelers' long-term option in 2027.
16. New York Jets (nge-IND)
Jets get: 1-10, 4-110
Bengals go: 1-16, 2-44
If you feel like there are a lot of Jets trades in this column, it helps to have all the draft picks. This is the Jets' second pick, and while I suspect New York will at least consider Simpson in the middle of the first round, my instinct is still for him to come at the very end of the first round. That's where teams high in the second round could consider trading up for one of the final opening day draft picks for him.If Mougey and the Jets go defensive with their initial pick, this pick could help on offense.
Receiver is a need of the Jets even after extending Garrett Wilson and acquiring Adonai Mitchell in last year's trade. If Wilson gets hurt like he did last season, he will become one of the worst tight ends in the NFL, if not the worst.Glenn can be confident that Geno Smith will lead the Jets to the "promised land," but he won't be able to do it on a solo project.
With an abundance of capital, it could make sense for Mougey to go for a wide receiver like Lemon or Arizona State's Jordin Tyson — or Oregon's top tight end prospect Kenyon Sadiq. The Bengals aren't in the market for a receiver, but it makes sense that the Dolphins and Rams are, which could leave the Jets without a desirable target at No. 16.The Bengals want as much cost-cutting talent as possible, so adding another top pick early in Day 2 is a smart idea for Cincinnati, given the value of the Big Three in the playoff game.
The "Get Up" crew weighs in on Ty Simpson's private workout with the Jets and how high they should draft him.
17. Detroit Lions
Lions receptions: 1-23, 3-98
Eagles win: 1-17
After trading up in the third round of last year's move to TeSlaa and facing an overabundance of all the young talent coming in the expansion, Brad Holmes should look to inject some additional capital.Gotta take something off the table for Detroit.A third-round pick, even in the third round in the compensation department, could help Holmes rebuild their roster. If the Lions are looking to put up a good fight, they shouldn't have too much trouble getting the pick they want.
Howie Roseman and the Eagles will be thinking about safety here. While I'm not sure Roseman has taken a safety in the first round in years past, the longtime Eagles GM surprised many observers (myself included) by using his first-round pick on Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell last year, supporting a position Philly didn't normally think of that way.
Safety is a vital part of Vic Fangio's defense, and the Eagles have a shot at Andrew Mukuba after Reid Blankenship signed with the Texans. If Roseman wants safety Oregon Thienemann, who profiles as a versatile option Fangio likes, he'll likely have to move. The Vikings need a replacement for Harrison Smith, while the Panthers are looking for an upgrade in Nick Scott.Skipping both teams could be enough for Roseman to land one of the few missing pieces for his defense.
18. Minnesota Vikings
Vikings score: 1-25, 2-60
Bears won: 1-18, 5-163
Normally we do not see too much trade between division rivals, but trading involving draft picks may be an exception. The Eagles and Cowboys traded first round picks in 2021, acquiring DeVonta Smith in the former and Parsons in the latter.Brzezinski will accept such an agreement is still to be seen, but I have the Bears pay a small premium for the privilege of making a deal at NFC North.
Ryan Poles has already addressed some of his team's weaknesses last season, but the Bears should still hope to do something meaningful. On the one hand, Montez Sweat is a solid starter, but Dayo Odeyingbo suffered a torn Achilles tendon and didn't look good in his first season as a Bears player before the injury.Odeyingbo doesn't have guaranteed money in 2027, so this trade would be for a rookie they can rotate with in 2026 before he takes over as the starter next year.
The Bears have an extra second-round pick after trading DJ Moore to the Bills, which should make this deal easier in Chicago.Brzezinski's Vikings were the league's third-oldest team last season, with McCarthy and Max Brosmer taking most of the snaps at quarterback.Adofo-Mensah had incredible success in free agency, but struggled badly in the draft, so the Vikings need more young talent.to the point.Getting an extra second-round pick would make sense, especially after they only made one top-100 pick a year ago.
Dan Orlowski and Dan Graziano discuss the process Kyler Murray and the Vikings should take to transition him to a new style of offense.
19. Carolina Panthers
Panthers beat: 1-22, WR Quentin Johnston
Chargers score: 1-19, 5-159
The Panthers are always looking for players to make life easier for Bryce Young and could use another first-round pick at wide receiver in this year's draft. However, I would like to see them talk about defense, and so Dan Morgan's team comes out with a player and a new player on the defensive side of the ball on the first day of the draft.
The Panthers have focused on supersized receivers for their smaller quarterback, and the 6-4 Johnston fits the bill here.Drops are certainly a concern, but Johnston can make contested catches and is explosive down the field. He's coming off a 735-yard season in 2025, but Johnston was off to a good start before injuries plagued the offense and the ascension of tight end Orond Gadsden limited his field opportunities.
The Chargers said the right things about keeping Johnston, but the additions they made this offseason suggest Los Angeles will be 21 or 12 more often than not in 2025. Johnston could be the odd man out with Ladd McConkey as the leader and Tre' Harris perhaps as the second wide receiver. The managers who drafted Johnston are no longer in the building in Los Angeles, and I'm not sure Joe Hortiz is motivated to pick up Johnston's $18 million fifth-year option in 2027 as he would be one of those picks.
Trading Johnston takes the load out of this situation. This deal values him around the 95th pick in a typical draft, which is nearing the end of the third round.Johnston will slot in ahead of Xavier Leggett as the starter in a three-WR lineup for Carolina. The Chargers would be ahead of the Cowboys in offensive help, and the Panthers could still handle safety or tackle or offensive offense. Rank themselves 22nd.
20. Dallas Cowboys (via GB)
Cowboys win: 1-29, 3-74, 4-109
Bosses get: 1-20
The Cowboys' focus on their two first-round picks in this year's draft is lost because they don't have much in the way of draft capital after those two first-round picks.Their second rounder went to the Jets as part of the Quinn Williams deal.to the cart.
While I've already covered a few upsides for the Cowboys in this column, going under would be a defensive and even logical call.Life no.(I wonder if they call that value chart project something else in the cowboy structure?)
This is pretty much the same thing that happened to one Brett Veach in 2022, when he went from No.29 to No.21, sending third- and fourth-round picks to the Patriots. The leaders fans remembered who led Veach that day were: McDuffie, who emerged as the Super Bowl-winning secondary. This would be another defensive back up top, with the Steelers Chiefs, Scuderia and Eagles players ahead of Clemson cornerback Avieon Terrell.
21. Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers are 1-11 with a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Dolphins get: 1-21, 3-76, 2027 second round pick
Call it a hunch. The Steelers don't often make big moves up the board, but when they do in the first round, it's usually for defenders they view as future superstars. In 2003, the Steelers went from 27 to 16 and took safety Troy Polamalu. This one worked pretty well.In 2019, Pittsburgh moved from No. 20 to No. 10 and took linebacker Devin Bush.Lion.Although Bush was coming off a career year that season in Cleveland, injuries limited his impact in Pittsburgh.
If Ohio State quarterback Downs falls out of the top 10, he remains in my head as a player who could blow the Steelers away.Downs has incredible instincts and football smartsHe is a big hitterDowns is also a pass rusher, with 12.5 tackles for loss, four picks and two forced fumbles over two years. He is considered a top-10 playerIn this draft, but just as we have Kyle Hamilton and Derwin James Jr.As we've seen with prospects like , teams have a way of dropping more in safeties than pre-draft boards suggest when selecting.
On paper, the Steelers don't need immediate help at safety.Jalen Ramsey moved from cornerback a year ago.DeShaun Elliott is expected to return from injury in 2025. Pittsburgh general manager Omar Khan also signed Jaquan Brisker to a one-year free agent contract, adding another playmaker to the position this offseason.
But remember, the Steelers are willing to let their first-round defensive end sit out and learn in safety or rookie situations. Polamalu didn't start his rookie season. Bush started 15 games, but the Steelers always put him on third down. Towns doesn't have to step straight into the starting role to justify the deal.
And while this security room looks cramped, there aren't many long-term options.Brisker's contract expires this year.Elliott has no guaranteed money in his contract, and although the Steelers paid him a $2.1 million bonus in March, the 28-year-old could still find himself on the losing end of the season.Ramsey could return to fullback this season, but even if he remains safe, it's not certain the Steelers would be comfortable paying him $19.7 million in 2027.
Steelers coach Mike McCarthy joins "The Pat McAfee Show" to discuss how his talks with Aaron Rodgers went.
The Steelers have three third-round picks in 2026, courtesy of the George Pickens trade and the departure of Dan Moore Jr. to the Titans in free agency. If they see Downs as a future Hall of Fame safe, moving to a star differential will be a defensive strategy. The Dolphins will receive another Day 2 pick in this year's draft, and will have a second-round pick in 2027, which could be very attractive if the Steelers suffer after Mike Tomlin retires.
22. Los Angeles Chargers
Chargers accepted: 1-16
Jets get: 1-22, 3-86, 2027 third-round pick
Joe Hortis' two-year deal as Chargers general manager paid off, with the former Ravens executive acquiring Ladd McConkey in 2024 and Orondo Gadsden in 2025.There's always a case for the Chargers to add Justin Herbert and focus on the interior of the offensive line, but I still think their most likely targets are Odafi Owe leaving in free agency and 35-year-old Khalil Mack on the edge.Thuli Tuipulotu is expected to be offered a more lucrative contract.Finding a player on a low-cost contract on the other side of Tupulotu has to be one of Hortis' top priorities in this year's draft.
He's behind only a handful of teams that all look for help, including the Lions at No. 17 and the Cowboys at No. 20.Getting past the Crows and Bucks would be ideal, but if someone like Keldick Folk (Auburn) or Messido is still on the board, the Chargers don't have a project as a long-term starter at a position of need. The Jets have a two-day option that includes the 2027 draft.
23. Philadelphia Eagles
Eagles krije: Edge Maxx Crosby
Raiders get: 1-23, 2027 third-round pick, Edge Nolan Smith Jr.
What, you thought we made 32 trades without a Crosby deal? While Crosby says he wants to move forward with the only professional organization he's ever known since his trade to the Ravens fell through, the same logic that led the Raiders to trade Crosby to Baltimore in the first place still holds true.Vegas doesn't look like a serious contender.Crosby will turn 29 in August. He wants to win, in ideals, sooner rather than later. It could happen in Las Vegas, but by then Crosby could be in his prime.
With a propensity for trades and a penchant for elite defensive tackles, Howe Roseman's Eagles were always close to getting Crosby. It's all about money.Philly is spending $219 million on offense this season, and while the defense tops $86 million, those numbers will change in the coming years.Jordan Davis just got paid and fellow D-lineman Jalen Carter should be next. Cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean will get much bigger deals after 2026. The Eagles will have to shift some money from offense to defense, and spending a ton on Crosby won't make that process any easier.
The "Get Up" crew weighs in on whether teams like the Cowboys or Eagles should try to trade Max Crosby.
The logical move, as I mentioned in my column on the aftermath of the Crosby trade being canceled last month, could be a veteran trade. It's unclear if A.J. Brown will still be on the Eagles roster in 2026, but if he is traded, that move will likely come after June 1, at which point his kill count can be spread out between 2026 and 2027 for accounting purposes. These two sides can wait.until June to complete a trade between Brown and Crosby. But while Brown would be a logical choice as the No. 1 wideout for Mendoza, it's also fair to wonder whether the Raiders would really want to trade their top asset for a wide receiver who turns 29 in June. The best return for Crosby would be young talent rather than players who might be in their prime, even if he is a star in a situation of need.like Brown.
This is a trade-off for both parties. The Raiders would trade Crosby to the Eagles without Brown's involvement. The Raiders won't land two first-round picks or land a first-round pick as high as the one they hope to get from Baltimore, but this would be a reasonable return.Las Vegas could use the 23rd pick on a wide receiver who fits Mendoza's schedule better, like Omar Cooper Jr., co.The quarterback's team is Indiana. The Raiders will make a third-round pick in next year's draft, though the Eagles likely won't send a pick in the top half of the round to Vegas here.
The Raiders would also add Smith, who would step into their wing rotation as a replacement for the departed Crosby.Smith has had an up-and-down period after being drafted by the Eagles in the first round. He didn't seem like a good fit on defense as a rookie before racking up 10.5 sacks between the regular season and the postseason in Year 2. Smith looked to be on the verge of a breakout 2025, but managed just three sacks 11 games into a season marred by a torn triceps.
I'm sure Roseman and the Eagles still have high hopes for Smith, but with the 25-year-old's fifth-year option coming up this spring, it could be a natural time to consider a move.Crosby will step in as a big upgrade over Smith, with Jalix Hunt starting on the other side and veterans Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Arnold Abicati as the primary backups.Philly still has a second round pick in this draft. With the pick and two third-rounders, the Eagles project third-round compensation in 2027 for the loss of Jaylen Phillips.
In terms of the cap situation, the Crosby-Brown deal would essentially be split into two parts.Brown would still be on the move after June 1, but it wouldn't be to the Raiders, with teams like the Patriots and Rams rumored to be more interested. That trade would not include the Eagles' 2026 picks, and trading for Crosby could reduce Philly's leverage. But there should be enough interest in Brown to ensure the Eagles get something meaningful for their top wide receiver.
24. Cleveland (via JAX)
Edges Earned: 1-31;3-95,6-191
Patriots get: 1-24
Although the Browns hoped the future first-round pick they got from the Jaguars last year as part of Jacksonville's upgrade for Travis Hunter would be a premium pick, the pick ultimately landed at No. 24.The Browns may be trying to move up, but general manager Andrew Berry may be inclined to add an additional pick, especially after the Browns had a successful draft a year ago.One more of those and Cleveland would be in good shape after releasing Deshaun Watson's contract after this season.
Even though the Patriots unexpectedly made it to the Super Bowl, I'm not sure they should approach 2026 with the team gone.It would be a modest improvement, costing the Pats a third-round pick and a sixth-round pick. They will play two positions, each of which can play between No. 24 and No. 31 on a school day.
Any team between 24 and 31 could think about adding a wide receiver, and the Pats could look to add another key piece in third-year quarterback Drake Maye.Kayshon Boutte, DeMario Douglas and Mack Hollins are all free after the season, which would leave Romeo Doubs and Kyle Williams as the two players to fill the position.
The Pats could also be looking for youth on the player end, where coach Mike Vrabel doesn't have much depth behind the duo of Harold Landry III and Dre'Mont Jones, who are both 29 years old.The Bears, Bills, Chiefs and Dolphins could all be in the running for the finals, and the Pats would go into promotion mode if they had the favorite in that area.
25. Chicago colors
Bears: 11-1, 151-5, 227-7, 2027 fifth-round pick
Dolphins Received: 1-25, 2-57, 2027 Second Pick
The Patriots may not be paying attention to every move, but I think Ryan Pauls and the Bears will try to be more aggressive.Chicago lost several Day 3 picks, but has two second-round picks after trading DJ Moore to the Bills. The Bears need a secondary and may try to add another wide receiver in Caleb Williams, but as I mentioned above, their target position is on the wing, and they want help for Montez Sweat and a long-term replacement for Dayo Odeingbo, who could be cut after this season.
While going from #25 to #18 wasn't a drastic jump, going from #25 to #11 would be a much more significant jump.It would really make sense if one of the top prospects like Bailey, Bain, or Reese fell out of the top 10. I find it unlikely, but stranger things have happened and the Bears would be in a good position if that happened. If the Poles lean toward the offense, that would put the Bears in open positions for either Lemon or Tyson.
By trading a 2027 second-round pick, the Bears would be able to keep the second-rounder they landed from the Bills, which would allow them to tackle the defensive back in Round 2. Also, the Dolphins could select the second-rounder next year for the reasons mentioned earlier.
26. Buffalo Bills
Paying: 2-35, 3-66
Titans receiving: 1-26, 5-168, WR Keon Coleman
After trading that second round pick to the Bears for DJ Moore, Bills general manager Brandon Beane should try to move down from No.26 and will add day 2 pick.He could lighten the pot by bringing in Coleman.Even though Joe Brady said he values Coleman and believes the third-year wide receiver can continue to grow in a Bills uniform, the officials responsible for publicly firing Coleman in this memorable press conference tell you how the most important people in the house view the 2024 second-round pick. This trade values Coleman as afourth round, which seems fitting for a player who hasn't impressed since his professional career.
Brandon Beane joins "The Pat McAfee Show" and breaks down his high expectations for Buffalo Bills DJ Moore.
The Titans would add Coleman as a young player with an emphasis on competing on the outside.Calvin Ridley took a pay cut this offseason, but this could be the 31-year-old's final season in Tennessee.Wan'Dale Robinson will likely play a hybrid role and create after the catch.Coleman would give the Titans a bigger body to split up Cam Ward.Owed just $3.8 million over the next two years, Coleman won't cost them much.titans, and they will add a player coming off the board at the top of the 2nd round in 2024.
More importantly, perhaps Titans GM Mike Borgonzi will jump ahead of many teams scouting offensive linemen in the bottom of Round 1, including his former staff in Kansas City.I wonder if the Titans could consider adding an offensive lineman, another position the Chiefs (and others) could find in the past few days.
Dan Moore Jr.'s Albatross deal has no guaranteed money after 2026, putting the Titans in the market for another left tackle. JC Latham struggled mightily as a rookie and may have to stay at right guard. If Alabama's Kadyn Proctor or Utah's Caleb Lomu are still available here, the Titans might start at right guard as a rookie.before moving him to left tackle next year.
27. San Francisco 49ers
49ers scoring: 1-23
Eagles get: 1-27, 4-127, 4-133
49 players are in a unique position.John Lynch's team has fourth-round picks, all at no.Between 127 and 139.I expect the 49ers to use some of these picks before moving on to a package in the first three rounds.
In this scenario, teams try to come up with top talent and wide receivers. The Eagles aren't on the market (yet), but the Browns, Bears and Bills could all at least look at wide receiver options. The 49ers are expected to move on from Brandon Aiyuk at some point in the offseason, and while the Eagles may be a replacement for AJ Brown, I doubt any team would be willing to trade for Aiyuk.a contract that would be difficult to replace in the draft.
Philadelphia will end up with fourth-round picks after this deal. But I'm not worried about Howie Roseman finding a way to use them on the roster or trade them in the next 24 hours. The 49ers could make a move here for someone like Washington receiver Denzel Boston, who replaces Mike Evans on the outside in San Francisco, taking over as a valuable YAC producer.
28. Houston Texans
Texans gain: 1-19, 3-83, 6-200
Panthers win: 1-28, 2-59, 4-106
Houston GM Nick Caserio quietly has a lot of money in the draft this year. The former Patriots executive has four top-70 picks since trading Laremy Tunsil and going down last year as part of the Giants' rise to Jackson Dart.Although the Texans don't have a sixth-round pick, they do have two fifth-rounders and two seventh-rounders.And in an interesting context, Caserio may feel he can be aggressive on the climb to win the first lap.
Houston turned to wide receivers last season by drafting Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, but they have CJ. I'm not sure Stroud can stop adding players. Dalton Schultz is on a one-year deal and while he's a good pass catcher, he's not a reliable blocker. The Texans used two tight ends the second-lowest in the NFL last season, but I wonder if he can move to 13 personnel and see what the Rams have done and look like his former employer.
That might include Cade Stover and Foster Moreau, but what about Sadik? His ability to run away from defenders and stretch the field will be attractive to the Texans, who ranked last in yards last season after catching more than expected on a per-catch basis last season, according to NFL Next Gen statistics. The Panthers could draft Sadik, but the trade would be the same exchange Johnson charts, and the extra second-round pick would get Carolina Ejiro.Avero's defense could focus on several early picks.
29. Kansas City Chiefs (via LAR)
Shefat Marrin: 2-53, 4-121, ace Alex Highsmith.
Steelers score: 1-29
The Chiefs took this pick from the Rams by trading a key part of their defense in Trent McDuffie. We're trying to land them a role player while still keeping some much-needed discretionary capital.Highsmith has been an ever-improving pass rusher for the Steelers, averaging nearly 11 sacks over 17 games over the past four seasons. He missed nine games the last two years, though, which isn't good for a team.of Chiefs joy attendance. However, Highsmith is an effective two-way defender who can immediately step in as a valuable secondary runner alongside Chris Jones and George Karlaftis.Highsmith has also posted better-than-average tackle-to-miss rates throughout his career, something the Chiefs are also focusing on with their linebackers.
For the Chiefs, Highsmith's contract is also affordable as the veteran is owed $14.5 million in 2026 and $15.5 million in 2027, neither of which are guaranteed. The Chiefs may want to reconsider this deal before Highsmith retires in 2028, but it makes a lot of sense for a player of his consistency.yes, but Highsmith is similarly benefiting from the attention on Jones in Kansas City.
Trading Highsmith would open up a spot in the Steelers starting lineup for Nick Herbig, who has been one of the fastest pass rushers in the game over the past few seasons while also serving as a third-down tackler.Herbig is entering the final year of his rookie deal, and the Steelers won't want to lose the former fourth-round draft pick in free agency. After a season with 7.5 sacks and 18 touchdowns, the Steelers could move Highsmith by signing Herbig to an extension and adding more draft capital. This trade would make Highsmith the 74th pick in the regular draft, with the selection occurring in the early 3rd round.
With two first-round picks, the Steelers could make a big move on the board if this is part of a larger trade.Only targeting No. 29, however, this would be another way for the Steelers to get ahead of their team in Round 2 for Ty Simpson or to add help elsewhere.Pittsburgh used a first-round pick on Broderick Jones to serve as a potential left tackle of the future, but he didn't excel anywhere down the line and suffered a scarred neck injury last season. If Jones' viability is a concern, whether due to his game or injury, moving here for a left tackle prospect could make sense for Pittsburgh.
30. Miami Dolphins (via DEN)
Dolphins received: 2-36, 2027 third round pick
Raiders get: 1-30, 2027 sixth-round pick
It's the fifth and final Dolphins trade in the mock game!If Miami is targeting the wide receiver at No. 11 or doesn't think there's a wideout here to fit the draft board, this could be a place to give up and make another pick.Since Jon-Eric Sullivan already has four third-round picks in this year's draft, it makes more sense to secure a third-round pick from the Raiders in 2027. Given how Vegas fares next season, this third-rounder could very well end up in the top of the round.
The Raiders will draft with the No. 1 pick, and that would be a move for Mendoza to become a running back.Mendoza would love to see Indiana teammate Cooper land here, but Denzel Boston and Texas A&M's KC Concepcion should also be here.If the Raiders land Mendoza's favorite target here, they won't miss out on a third-round pick.
31. New England Patriots
Patriots score: 2-33, 2-44
Jets received: 1-31, 2-63, 4-131
According to Johnson's chart, this would be a pretty bland trade, but there are two reasons why the Patriots are asking for a premium to move two picks down here. One is the inter-division tax, because the Patriots don't want to help the rival Jets add to their roster. The other is about the flexibility of choosing the fifth year.By trading up from the first round, the Patriots have the ability to sign their pick to a fifth-year option.Losing that would be a meaningful upside if you hit your choice. All general managers believe in nailing down their picks, so losing an extra year of cost control becomes more significant for the Patriots than it seems.
On the other hand, even with the Jets' fourth-round pick, the jump from No. 63 to No. 44 is a significant move for Elliot Wolff. The Patriots could still fill needs with the 33rd and 44th picks, such as wide receiver, offensive tackle, edge rusher or off-ball defender.
With this deal, the Jets will accomplish two things. One way to do that would be to use the Seahawks at cornerback, a position where Aaron Glenn needs help.Brandon Stephens was the main reason for his first season in New York, while Nashon Wright only signed a one-year deal this offseason.
The latter would give the Jets an edge over teams that could pick No. 32 to jump to No. 33, which would address many of the Jets' needs.New York shouldn't dip often given its need for young talent, but if there's one player left at a position it really values, a bump up will cover that player's coverage.
32. Seattle Falcons
Seahawks receiving: 2-39, 3-70, 5-149
Brown will receive: 1-32
Well, we know what Seattle GM John Schneider will do with his last first-round pick. While anything is possible, we've seen the Seahawks trade up from the 32nd pick after winning the Super Bowl in 2013, before being swept twice in the first round in 2016, 2017, 2018 and again in 2019.The fourth and fifth rounds disappeared this year, and the fifth round came after the 2013 Super Bowl winner.for the reigning champions of the Capitals.
Although Schneider will also miss the fifth-year pick at No. 32, the Seahawks will pick up an extra third-round pick and return a fifth-round pick by dropping seven spots here. The Browns would pick up the phone, and it could be Simpson (or a quarterback of their choice). The Jets and Cardinals take Nos. 33 and 34, respectively, and could draft Simpson if he's still available.Starting board on Day 2. Taking Simpson at this point in the draft also doesn't prevent the Browns from drafting a quarterback in 2027 if they don't like what they see from the former Alabama quarterback.
